There is a general consensus that it would be a shame to shut down Northlands Park. Alberta will be losing a recreation and entertainment venue that has spanned over 100 years. The destruction of this complex and proposed replacement with condos or other developments when the market sales are low and might not be sold out for years is a tragedy.
The horse racing community is concerned that all A-Circuit racing in Alberta has been awarded to a foreign company. Horse Racing Alberta has allowed them to construct facilities with VERY limited fan seating and a shortage of stalls for the horse inventory, resulting in many horses, owners and trainers moving to other tracks or quitting.
Alberta Downs Inc. and supporters would like to lease/purchase Northlands Park. Please review our proposal, which can be viewed below or downloaded as a pdf.
